The VIVE Research Station

Designation: Variable Isolation and Vacuum Environment Station
Ring Location: Outer Orbit, 2nd Galactic Ring
Status: Operational (Pre-Milark Incident)
Purpose: Advanced scientific research facility

Overview

The V.I.V.E. Station, short for Variable Isolation and Vacuum Environment, is a high-security scientific outpost operated under the purview of the Galactic Council’s Research and Phenomena Division. Located in a stable orbit beyond the outermost sectors of the 2nd Ring, the station is known for its isolation, advanced shielding, and focus on volatile material studies.

Primary Function

VIVE specialises in the analysis of anomalous energy signatures, dark matter fluctuations, and Eventum wave radiation. It serves as a containment and observation facility for experimental artefacts and recovered pre-collapse relics too dangerous or unstable to house within standard planetary environments.

Design & Infrastructure

  • Containment Labs: Multi-sealed research vaults reinforced with quantum dampeners to prevent data leakage or energy anomalies.
  • Remote Relay Towers: Allow real-time telemetry and observational feeds to central research hubs, including A.R.S Ignition and the Council Archives.
  • Isolation Protocols: VIVE operates under Level-6 Isolation, with all visiting personnel undergoing rigorous pre-entry scans and 48-hour decontamination.

Staff & Operation

Operated by a small, rotating team of elite scientists, engineers, and containment specialists, VIVE emphasizes precision, caution, and long-range analysis over fieldwork. Researchers are hand-selected for their psychological resilience and specialisation in exotic matter, gravitational anomalies, or energy evolution.

Pre-Incident Status

Prior to the Milark incursion, VIVE had been running stable diagnostics on long-dormant artefacts uncovered near the galactic core. These studies were yielding significant data correlations between Eventum waveforms and ancient gravitational signatures. Though security alerts had occasionally flared due to minor containment fluctuations, no breaches had ever occurred, until the events chronicled in Shadows of the VIVE.
