Homeworld: Orvnok
Physiology: Large, boar-like humanoids with guttural vocalisations
Special Trait: Adaptive scavenging and negotiation tactics
Known For: Ruthless trade, scavenging brilliance, volatile diplomacy

Cultural Roots

The Borelians hail from Orvnok, a wild, untamed world of deep forests, vast plains, and towering mountain ranges. Evolving as apex scavengers and hunters, their societies began as feuding tribes—territorial, loud, and driven by survival.

Their language lacked words, relying instead on tone, growls, and body language. Over time, this developed into a form of deeply nuanced communication, well-suited for negotiation, threat, and barter.

With the discovery of ancient symbolic tablets, the Borelians forged a written language and religion centred around commerce as divinity. To trade was to honour their ancestors—and to profit was to grow closer to the divine.

Rise of the Traders

The turning point came with the discovery of neutronium, a rare and valuable material found on Orvnok. Using salvaged alien wreckage, the Borelians reverse-engineered their first crude spacecraft and launched into space.

Their early spacefaring era was aggressive—marked not by diplomacy, but opportunism. Their first interstellar deals were often coercive, their negotiations backed by physical intimidation and cunning exploitation.

Their most notable conflict came with Humanity. What started as profitable trade quickly descended into the infamous Trade Wars. The Borelians underestimated Human adaptability and tactical intelligence, culminating in several defeats and the siege of Orvnok itself. Peace was only achieved when the Ardnant brokered a ceasefire.

Role in the Galactic Council

Despite tensions, the Borelians eventually took a seat on the Galactic Council, driven by pragmatism. Their vast networks of trade routes and black-market channels made them a valuable, if mistrusted—ally.

They use their Council presence to influence trade law, protect economic interests, and undercut rivals. However, their aggressive bartering style and reputation for exploiting loopholes often puts them at odds with the Council’s more diplomatic members.

Modern Identity

Today, Borelians are known as:

  • Relentless traders
  • Expert scavengers
  • Shrewd negotiators

Their marketplaces are filled with rare finds, scavenged tech, and unique relics. Many galactic travellers tolerate their difficult nature for access to their goods.

Still, many question their intentions. Accusations of resource hoarding, exploitation of vulnerable colonies, and deal manipulation continue to plague their reputation.

Legacy

The Borelians are survivors. Opportunists. Builders of an empire not through conquest, but through commerce and cunning.

Their rough demeanour and guttural speech conceal a sharp intelligence—one that thrives in a galaxy of shifting power.

They are not diplomats. They are not conquerors.

They are the dealmakers.

And they never walk away empty-handed.

Core Belief:
“Trade is truth. Profit is power.”
